the lingo:

I approach therapy through a bio-psycho-social-spiritual lens with Internal Family Systems as my foundational framework. My therapeutic approach also blends in mindfulness, psychodynamic/relational cultural theory, existentialism, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment, and depth psychology.

in practice:

We start with where you are right now and use your present experiences to identify entry points into unresolved past traumas. Diving into past trauma just for the sake of diving into them more often than not leaves one feeling dysregulated and overwhelmed. Therefore it is vital to cultivate a compassionate witness that can meet the pains, wounds, and grief that arise as we explore past traumas. My role as a therapist is to help you discover your innate capacity to be a compassionate witness to yourself, even when pain feels too overwhelming. My approach to cultivating this compassionate witness looks like pausing our conversation to notice feeling and sensation, practicing scaling the sensation (up or down) to build tolerance and capacity, and cultivating curiosity through non-judgemental awareness.

As a therapist, I don’t prescribe homework unless it arises organically in our sessions and is relevant to you. I think of my therapeutic approaches as general frameworks to get us started, knowing that the process of healing is specific to each individual. I am committed to discovering healing and growth with each one of my clients, with no agenda other than the fierce knowing that you are deserving and capable of agency, wholeness, and liberation.
